Perspective
is
almost Everything.
In the final analysis, our perspective (the way
we see ourselves and others) is our interpretive interface with the
world. Perspective is our personal Interpreter of life and all that happens to
us.
If you change your life, your perspective is
altered. Equally true, by changing your perspective,
your life changes. This understanding is key when working with awareness. If your perspective is
limited in any way, by lack of experience, or by prejudice or, ironically, by
loving sentimentality, you rarely see life--reality--as it is. And
reality is truly a wonder. Anaïs Nin spoke truth
when she said,
"We don't see things as they are,
we see things as we are".
Most people see life as
they personally believe it to be, based on their personal (always
somewhat limited) interpretation of what
they believe is happening. This creates virtually all
misunderstandings and all troubled relationships, between people and, since perspective operates both
individually and collectively, among nations.
"I wanted to change the
world. But I have found that the only thing one can be sure of
changing is oneself".
Aldous Leonard Huxley
The quickest, most
effective way to 'broaden your horizon' and improve your relationships is to transform
your uniquely personal point-of-view into
a broader perspective...much, much broader. This results in expanding your
'here and now' in terms of space and of time. Creating a more
flexible understanding of the nature of time is especially useful right
now.
